So how can you prepare for a good nights sleep ?

Sleep hygiene is very important.

  • Avoid eating too much or drinking to much before bed
  • Avoid caffeine after 4pm in the afternoon
  • If you find your mind racing before you go to bed at night. Making notes in a journal or diary summing up the days events can be a very helpful for quieten the mind.  Think about the events and people that where involved in your day. Record how they impacted you and your emotional response.
  • If you regret doing something during the day – forgive yourself before you sleep it will help you to rest and have more peaceful dreams. – Tell yourself “ The Devine in me forgives the human in me, and you for any misunderstandings or barriers that have come between us.”
  •  Don’t carry the events of the day, whether they are good, bad or indifferent, into the night. Bless them , release them, let them fade from your mind.
  • Soaking your feet in warm salty water before bed is another way to relax. Imagine of all the worries and stresses of the day being drawn out through the feet into the water.
  • If there is something you need to remember to do the next day, writing it down will enable you to let it go while you sleep.
  •  Avoid napping during the day to ensure the body and mind are adequately tired at bed time.
  •  Set a regular bed time – The body and mind will begin to recognise when it is time to sleep and time to wake, if done regularly
  •  Avoid exercise into the evening it can increase the body’s core temperature and stimulate the mind making it more difficult to switch off when you get into bed.
  • Avoid having clutter in the bedroom is also helpful for creating a peaceful state of mind before sleep.

For those of you more spiritually inclined:

  • If you are more spiritually inclined breath – some up all the days events and breath them into the crystal three times with a sharp – “HUH” exhaling breath. Then hold the crystal against your forehead for a few minutes and allow it to absorb the days events. You will feel peaceful after it.
  • Crystals that can assist with sleeping well are – amethyst, blue lace agate, moonstone and rose quartz
